Burlap Bubble Wreath How-To
With the winter doldrums in full swing around here I decided it was high time to pull down my winter wreath and come up with something new and cheerful to brighten up my front door. I saw a similar bubble wreath on pinterest using fabric, but I’m a bit of a burlap nut, so I decided to give it a try with that!
Here is what you need to make one of your very own!
SUPPLIES
2/3 Yard Fabric or Burlap
Paint in the color of your fabric
Scissors
10” Wreath Form
100 Straight Pins (WITH pearl heads if using burlap!)
Alright, so here’s how it’s done:
1. Paint your wreath form and straight pin heads a color that blends in with the fabric you chose and let dry. (Don’t worry, there’s plenty to do while drying! I skipped this step so that you will be able to see better in the pictures just what I’m doing. Also, if you are using regular fabric you can use regular straight pins without the pearl “head” so you won’t need to paint them.)
2. Cut the fabric you chose into 4” squares. For a 10” wreath like the one I made you need right around 100 squares, so you’ll end up with a pretty good sized pile. Don’t worry if they’re not perfectly square, they just need to be close!
3. Do the magic bubble fold in three quick steps!
Fold corner to corner. Bring the right corner to the front of the folded piece. Bring the left corner to the back.
4. Pin it through the bottom where your folds all meet.
5. Push the pin into the wreath form. (TIP: Go in at an angle or you’ll end up with the points poking through the back of your wreath! OUCH!)
6. Keep folding and pinning, overlapping the bubbles to keep the pins hidden until you’ve covered the entire wreath.
7. Fluff the bubbles to your liking, hang it up and enjoy your work!
I’m in love with these bubble wreaths, they’re so simple and easy to embellish. Add some flowers and a quick bow to make it even more springy or some mini pumpkins and fall leaves to transition into the fall. Thanks for following along! Be sure to leave a link in the comments to any of your bubble wreaths. I’d love to see them!
Remember, Keep Creating!
